New: “Bookwire OS – the Operating System for Digital Publishing”

Frankfurt, 7 May 2019 – Today, 7 May 2019, is the global launch of “Bookwire OS – the Operating System for Digital Publishing” from Frankfurt digital services provider Bookwire GmbH. The software is the next step in the evolution of the “One Solution” for publishers, which covers production, distribution, marketing and analysis for eBooks, audiobooks and Print-on-Demand (PoD) products.

Bookwire OS follows on from Bookwire MACS, and offers Bookwire’s approximately 1,600 publishing clients important and pioneering innovations, in terms of both new functionalities and navigation. The user interface was completely overhauled in collaboration with UX experts in low cognitive load design and web development, in order to enable future-oriented and intuitive control.

“Intensive preparations for the launch of Bookwire OS with our technology department and digital experts from various specialist fields have been underway for over a year now, to make sure that this new version of our software solution is ready for the increasingly digitalised future. Bookwire OS offers One Solution for all aspects of digital publishing of eBooks, audiobooks and Print-on-Demand products. During the coming months, we will be rolling out new intelligent functions for our publishing clients in all four areas – production, distribution, marketing and analysis. Bookwire OS is like writing a new story, and we will keep adding exciting chapters”, Jens Klingelhöfer, CEO of Bookwire GmbH.

New user interface – intuitive control for every user

You can see how innovative Bookwire OS is just by looking at the user interface: Bookwire has redesigned the navigation to make it as simple and intuitive as possible for publishing clients to use – software as a service.

In addition to the vertical menu, ‘floating action buttons’ enable the user to perform various actions in Bookwire OS at any time, regardless of where in the software they currently are. The slimline and easy-to-use interface conceals a wide range of functions and their highly complex processes.

Klingelhöfer describes how “for the new Bookwire OS interface, we precisely analysed the cognitive load on users when navigating the software, and used the results to design a simple and practical user interface.  The result is a system that is not only easier, but also faster and more convenient for every user. Our software is a virtual service provider for every user, and it needs to work just as smoothly”.

“Production Management” in Bookwire OS: automation from offer to delivery

Bookwire OS launches with a new feature for publishing clients in the form of “Production Management”. All steps – from request for a quotation for eBook or PoD production to product delivery – are fully integrated in Bookwire OS for publishing clients.

According to Klingelhöfer “Automated Production Management offers numerous optimisations, both for our publishing clients and for our production department in our Frankfurt headquarters, that satisfy requirements for digitalisation not just today, but also in years to come. Automated communication processes speed up and simplify production. We have developed the system so that it can grow and immediately implement the new possibilities that the future will bring”.

The next feature to be added to Bookwire OS will be the audiobook product solution “WAY”, which recently won the “Digital Publishing Award”. “Audience Analytics” will also be added. It uses extensive analysis data from various streaming providers for audiobooks to help publishers better understand their target groups and their consumer behaviour and optimise their marketing activities. More features for Bookwire OS are already being developed and will go live during 2019.

“The technical innovations of Bookwire OS offer simple and sales-boosting solutions that meet the needs of our clients, particularly in the booming audiobook market. They are solutions that publishers want and need if they are going to participate and continue to grow on this market”, adds Klingelhöfer.

Bookwire is launching “Bookwire OS – the Operating System for Digital Publishing” simultaneously for all publishing clients in the DACH region, UK, Spain, and South and Latin America.
