Bookwire – Next Level Digital Publishing

Frankfurt a. M., July 2017 – Bookwire’s company history is a classic success story. Within just a few years, what began as a book-industry start-up by two experienced, music-industry managers has become an internationally active business that supports publishers with innovative ideas and smart solutions for distributing and marketing eBooks, digital audiobooks and Print-on-Demand titles. To quote Bookwire’s claim, the business  is the partner for “next level digital publishing” that successfully supports publishers as they move into the future of their industry.

At Bookwire, everything is based on the right connections, such as the collaboration of two founders who, like Jens Klingelhöfer and John Ruhrmann, have known each other for many years, have strengths in various business areas and have transferred to the book industry valuable experience from the music industry, including knowledge about the challenges of digitalisation for labels. Bookwire also relies on intelligently linking up the latest technology, personal client support and constant innovation, which guarantee the business’ constant growth.  The third successful connection is linking up different media, which is essential to the book industry in the 21st century - eBooks, audiobooks and, of course, print titles, all successfully positioned and marketed for sale from a single source.

Next Level Digital Publishing: distribution and marketing solutions for the book industry

Just as the company has grown in the past roughly seven years, so have its business segments. In the beginning, Bookwire focused on independent eBook distribution services, i.e. distribution of titles as eBooks to all relevant stores, including the required platform technology, in the form of Bookwire MACS, and personal support for the publishers. Bookwire kept expanding this range of services and supplemented it with marketing, for optimum placement of titles in these stores, and data collection (enhanced analytics), to help publishers understand readers better. The company has always provided its services internationally, from its Frankfurt am Main headquarters. Now, more than 1,000 publishers in the DACH region, as well as on the rapidly expanding eBook markets in Spain, Central and South America, where Bookwire has branches with regional industry experts, put their trust in Bookwire’s comprehensive solutions. In all, Bookwire markets around 200,000 eBooks and more than 50,000 audiobooks.

eBooks, audiobooks and print products: the best offer for publishing clients

Bookwire’s services now also include marketing and data collection from the eBook segment, as well as Print-on-Demand services (PoD). What might appear surprising at first glance is enormously beneficial to publishers, on closer inspection. Publishing clients can order eBooks, audiobooks and print products directly, from a single source, using Bookwire’s own software solution, Bookwire MACS, and rely on advice from their personal customer advisor.

Bookwire will continue to expand in coming years, reliably extending its range of services and growing in terms of size and expansion into other markets. Like any bestseller, Bookwire will be a global success both in and for the 21st century book industry.
