Bookwire develops blockchain solution and NFT marketplace for the publishing industry

Frankfurt, May 06, 2021: Bookwire announces the launch of a blockchain platform for text and audio content, creating a new NFT marketplace for the publishing and creator industry. The company therefore not only offers its publishing customers, authors and creators a new distribution tool, but at the same time supports them in entering the currently fast-growing crypto market.

The launch of the platform in the fall of 2021 will enable trading with non-fungible tokens, or NFTs for short. This will open up an entirely new market for collectibles and digital originals such as first editions, original manuscripts and exclusive audio recordings. Publishers and content creators can use the platform to offer their target groups attractive and exclusive products that meet the needs and habits of new generations of digitally influenced readers. Thanks to blockchain technology, the "digital originals" are linked to true digital ownership and cannot be duplicated.

Independent solution for all market participants

Bookwire's mission is to always provide publishers with access to the latest digital technologies so that their content can reach its full potential. To achieve this, the company has now decided to develop its own technical solution that works independently for all market participants but is also connected to Bookwire OS. The first of the so-called drops - digital sales events where NFTs, often in limited quantities, are offered for sale - should come with the launch of the platform in the fall of 2021.

Anti-counterfeiting of digital goods

"For a long time, we at Bookwire have been thinking about using blockchain as a technology for the publishing industry. The potential uses of blockchain are huge. The hype around NFTs may die down, but the technology is here to stay. We want to enable blockchain solutions for our customers and the market as a whole. The NFT marketplace currently under development is a way for us to start bringing collectors, readers, users and listeners together with publishers, labels, authors and creators," said John Ruhrmann, Managing Director & Co-Founder of Bookwire GmbH.

Bookwire will support its publishing clients in both the production and sale of the NFTs that guarantee ownership and anti-counterfeiting of digital goods. With this expansion of its sales portfolio, the company facilitates its customers' entry into the blockchain technologies market.
