Frankfurt a. M., 21 October 2020 – Astrid Böhmisch will be moving from Piper Verlag,
Munich to Bookwire on 1 November 2020. She will be taking up the newly created
position of General Manager DACH at the Frankfurt headquarters, where she will be
responsible for account management and marketing for the approximately 1,000
publishing clients in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Böhmisch has worked as Head of Marketing and Organizational Development at Piper
Verlag GmbH in Munich since 2016, and has many years of cross-sector and international
experience in content marketing. Before her time at Piper, Böhmisch worked in the film
industry, including as Director of Marketing & Publicity at Wild Bunch Germany (2015-
2016), and in various positions – most recently as EVP Marketing & Publicity – at Senator
Film (2006-2015), following other stages as Marketing Manager at 3L Filmverleih and
Acquisitions Manager at Delphi Films.

“The digital book and audiobook market in German-speaking countries is still the largest
and most important flywheel for Bookwire. We aim to always offer our clients and
partners there the best value and service. That’s why I’m glad that, with Astrid Böhmisch,
we are gaining a very experienced manager who is familiar with the viewpoint of
publishers and will continue to develop the DACH region for our clients in a way that
generates value and looks to the future”, says John Ruhrmann, Managing Director of
Bookwire GmbH about the successful candidate and the newly created management role
within the business.

As General Manager, Böhmisch is in charge both of account management and marketing
in the Bookwire Business Unit DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), and reports directly
to Managing Director & Co-Founder John Ruhrmann.

Astrid Böhmisch is full of enthusiasm for her new position, “for me, the really exciting
thing about my new role is being able to take the experiences I have gained in content
marketing for films and books and apply it to the growth market of audiobooks and
eBooks. This is a strategically important phase for the business, whose
internationalisation is rapidly being shaped by Jens Klingelhöfer and John Ruhrmann, so
managing the DACH region with its dynamic team, and working closely together with the
branches in Spain, the UK and Latin and South America, is an exciting challenge.
Continuing to further develop the growing organizational structure of Bookwire with
everybody involved is another attractive area of responsibility that I am really looking
forward to”.

“We think that Astrid Böhmisch is the perfect person for this role because she has all of
the qualities needed for this new management position in our business - the insider
perspective of the publishers, but also in-depth and practical knowledge about how
content marketing works via various formats and platforms. We are glad that we now
have even more strength to focus on new and further development of our products and
services”, says Jens Klingelhöfer, CEO of Bookwire GmbH, looking ahead.
