Our company philosophy

The book industry is changing more and more rapidly. We support publishers in helping to shape this development as a reliable partner for global marketing of digital products.

Bookwire was founded in 2009. It is an independently run company with an experienced and dedicated team that specialises in distribution and marketing of eBooks and digital audiobooks in all existing and future distribution channels.

We are steadily expanding our global distribution network with the leading local shops in the relevant markets. We see to it that our German and international customers’ products are available globally and made visible at point of sale.

CEO & Co-Founder

Jens Klingelhöfer

CEO & Co-Founder

Prior to the founding of Bookwire, Jens Klingelhöfer was a media manager in the music industry for over 10 years. As managing director of the music marketing and management company MFM Entertainment, he was involved in many major and successful projects in music and entertainment. As an entrepreneur and marketing expert in the creative sector, he has a wealth of experience in designing and implementing creative and administrative processes and in developing and adapting new and ground-breaking business models – from manufacturing to marketing to sales.

His experience in the digital music market means that the co-founder of Bookwire can already draw on a decade of experience in selling digital content. At the start of his career, he worked as a media designer for books, and Bookwire sees him returning to the book sector.

John Ruhrmann

Managing Director & Co-Founder

John Ruhrmann previously worked as a product manager with the Frankfurt audio media company 3p, supporting releases by Xavier Naidoo, Glashaus und Sabrina Setlur, amongst others. Since 2005, he has been advisor to one of the biggest German independent music publishing houses, Melodie der Welt, as artist & repertoire manager. The co-founder of Bookwire has lived with the digitalisation of the music world from day 1. As a marketer of major music themes, he knows every area of the value-added chain in a creative business. Always looking for new ideas and forms of marketing, he is now contributing his full expertise in relation to sales and marketing of digital media to Bookwire. A lover of music and literature, he is particularly concerned about appropriate remuneration of protected content and content marketing that is not tied to any single company group.

Marlies Hebler

Director Business Relations

Marlies Hebler has years of varied experience in both the print and digital areas of the book and publishing sector. After training as a bookseller, she moved into publishing in the mid-90s. Initially employed as a project manager with publisher Dölling und Galitz, she later worked as a publishing manager with publishers Rogner & Bernhard and Murmann. In 2009 she moved, as joint founder and manager, to Berlin digital start-up textunes, which was taken over by Thalia in 2011. Marlies Hebler was most recently responsible for digital content at Thalia.

Barbara Zeppenfeld

Senior Account Manager

Barbara Zeppenfeld is a trained bookseller and has already worked on different sides of the book industry. After working at the Linnemann bookshop in Paderborn and in the distribution department of the publisher Gütersloher Verlagshaus, she was most recently responsible for compulsory delivery of eBooks at the German National Library. She has been supporting the Bookwire team as Account Manager since June 2012.

Richard Haupt

Senior Account Manager

Richard Haupt studied library and information science and history in Berlin, during which time he was already working in the book trade. He subsequently became client manager at the publishing house Gmeiner-Verlag, where he was primarily responsible for all eBook sales. Richard Haupt is also the head of the eBooks study group in the junior parliament of the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels (German publishers’ and booksellers’ association). In November 2012, he joined the Frankfurt Bookwire team as account manager.

Franziska Heger

Senior Account Manager

While studying on teaching profession in Heidelberg and Minster Franziska was working in a start-up company which focussed on the distribution of digital education media. After being in the account management of AbeBooks she subsequently entered the MVB in the sales department and product-management and was responsible for the eBook part libreka!. Since 2015 Franziska Heger is part of the Bookwire account management team in Frankfurt.

Johanna Krobitzsch

Senior Account Manager

Johanna Krobitzsch studied book trade / publishing in the “book city” of Leipzig. After university, she worked at Cadmos Verlag, where she built up the e-book business and was also responsible for the international licensing business. She joined the Bookwire team in January 2012 and is looking forward to supporting publishing houses in Germany.

Kristine Merget

Kristine Merget has been supporting Bookwire as Account Manager since 2014. After training as a retail bookseller, she studied at HTWK in Leipzig, completing her studies with a Bachelor of Engineering in Publishing Technology. She then worked as production manager at media company MairDumont in Ostfildern, where she was in charge of several travel guide series. Kristine Merget was most recently involved in designing and implementing online publications in the electronic publishing department of Wolfgang Metzner Verlag.

Marie Berger

Account Manager

Marie Berger is a trained digital and print media professional. After completing two periods of practical training in the media sector and her school-leaving examinations in 2011, it was immediately clear which direction her career should take. During her two-year training at Bookwire, she was able to become familiar with many interesting and exciting topics in the media and publishing industry.
As Account Manager, Marie Berger supports publishing houses and labels in distributing their eBooks and audiobooks.

Franziska Neumann

Franziska Neumann gained a bachelors’ degree in Bookselling and Publishing Management in Leipzig and studied Publishing and Media Trade Management as a master of arts. She worked in the marketing department of Hamburg based publisher Carlsen during her work placement semester. After spending a semester abroad at Oxford Brookes University, she began a traineeship at Bookwire in September 2013. Franziska Neumann is also an eBook fan in her spare time and reads books almost exclusively on her eReader.

Jennifer Huth

Jennifer studied book- and media production before the trained bookseller worked as project manager at le-tex publishing Services in Leipzig. Previous stations in project coordination, sales and marketing had been Springer-Verlag, Heidelberg and Borm Bruckmeier Publishing, Los Angeles USA. Since 2015 she is supporting Bookwire in Frankfurt.

Melanie Hohmann

Executive Assistant

After her Abitur, Melanie completed various periods of practical training in the media sector both in Germany and abroad. After finishing her 2-year training period at Bookwire with a certificate as Media Merchant Digital and Print, now -since July 2015- she is supporting the company as the Executive Assistant. Apart from her main tasks in organization, her work moreover she covers editorial tasks and coordinates customer actions.

Miriam Mondel

Miriam Mondel has studied business administration and more over successfully finished a training as a Digital and Print Media Manager in 2016. Since then she is supporting the Bookwire account management in Frankfurt.

Dirk Kosian

International Account Manager

Dirk Kosian studied business administration in Mayence and worked several years in Spain and South America. Since may 2015 he is supporting the Bookwire team as international account manager. He is using his diverse experiences in international customer relations and project management for the coordination of our international teams and the support of our publishers abroad.

Frauke Prayon

Head Of Shop Marketing

For just under ten years, Frauke Prayon was sales manager at Eichborn Verlag, where she helped to shape the first steps into eBook distribution in the e-commerce sector. She then worked as a freelance marketing and distribution consultant for mediacampus Frankfurt. As Sales Marketing Manager, Frauke Prayon is responsible for trade marketing at Bookwire.

Shop Marketing Manager

Barbara Müller was working more than 10 years in the sales departments of various publishing houses. After supporting Eichborn Verlag in Frankfurt and Thienemann Verlag in Stuttgart she worked seven years as head of sales and and key account manager for arsEdition in Munich. Subsequently she came to Campus Verlag in Frankfurt before she joined the Bookwire sales marketing team in April 2015.

Svenja Rohr

Junior Shop Marketing Manager

Svenja Rohr brought her professional experience from the “traditional” book trade to Bookwire in September 2014. She successfully completed her 2-year training as Digital and Print Media Manager in 2016 and is now supporting the shop marketing team.

Janine Dönges

Production Manager

Janine Dönges studied German Language and Literature in Marburg. She completed her studies in 2014 with her dissertation on the dystopian trend in contemporary children’s and young adult literature. She gained her first practical experience of the book industry while still studying, on a work placement with a scientific publisher in Marburg. She was interested in digitalisation of the book industry ever since and would like to contribute to continually improving eBooks both technically and visually.

She has completed her training to become a Digital and Print Media Manager in September 2016 and is now applying her broad production expertise as a part of our our in-house production department.

Steffen Möll

Head of IT

As Technical Manager, Steffen Möll has been responsible for the development of Bookwire’s digital distribution structures and for setting up its audio book distribution since February 2013. An experienced digital manager and specialist in programming the relevant tools, he consistently takes care of further development of technical solutions.
Steffen Möll has already been responsible for setting up and developing services and structures in the digital sector as digital distribution manager at Intergroove Media GmbH.

Andreas Gyo

Shop Relations Manager

Since June 2015 Andreas Gyo is supporting the Bookwire team in Frankfurt as shop relations manager. After studying book sciences at the university in Mayence he subsequently worked in the magazine production at MVS Medizinverlage Stuttgart and in the IT department of the National German Library ( Deutsche Nationalbibliothek). As a project manager in the production of Springer Business Media he focussed on workflow-improvement and automation of production processes for digital magazine editions. He entered Langenscheidt afterwards and took over the management of the content management team and pre-press in the language education department. Before starting at Bookwire he was responsible for the digital delivery at HGV.

IT-Produktmanager

Michael Waidner

IT-Produktmanager

As IT Product Manager, Michael Waidner has been lending his strength to the Bookwire team since May 2014. After studying international business management, specialising in culture & media management, as well as media IT, he gained his first professional experience in a music publishing house and an events agency. Michael Waidner had already worked as a reporting manager for labels and performing rights companies, as well as in rights and licence acquisition for music, audio book and video content. He most recently worked for seven years in Deutschen Telekom AG’s digital music business, in particular with Musicload and other national and international music download and streaming offers from Deutsche Telekom.

Junior IT Manager

Veronika Schöpf is studying information technologies at the university in Frankfurt. She is supporting our IT team as a student trainee since march 2015.
